The aim of this paper is to describe the MPEG AUDIO ST14500 integrated circuit which implements the full ISO 3-11172 Layer I and II standard. In the first chapter the most important features of the circuit are given. The second chapter is dedicated to the architecture description while the third chapter describes the design methodology used
