Abstract :
Within the context of the NRC charter to ensure adequate protection of public health and safety, the common defense and security, and the environment in the use of nuclear materials in the USA, the mission of NRC activities concerning human reliability assessment and human performance evaluation is to ensure effective regulation and oversight of licensee personnel performance. Five general strategies for achieving the mission are listed in this paper. Five research and analysis programs have been identified to implement these strategies. Each of these programs is discussed in detail
