Abstract :
A drive consisting of a series-wound motor, a CUK converter and an input bridge rectifier is presented. The power electronics provides sinusoidal input current. The field winding of the motor acts as the boost inductance. The armature winding is connected to the converter´s output. The circuit is suitable to replace triac control of vacuum cleaners, washing machines, power tools etc. if a high power factor is needed.
