Abstract :
Bismuth titanate powder was synthesized at 240°C by hydrothermal method using bismuth and titanium coprecipitated hydrous oxides. Microstructural investigation of resultant powder revealed aggregates of about 5-10 μm. Pelletized samples derived from the above powder when heat treated at 1050°C for 2 hrs showed 93.3% theoretical density. Fractured surface of sintered pellet showed large platelets of the order of 10-20 μm indicating extensive grain growth
