Abstract :
In this paper we propose a highly robust and fast method for recovering and representing surface depth information by using coded projector light. We use multiple projectors whose projection patterns are coded carefully. The projected patterns are blended on an object surface, and represent the depth information of the surface, that is the object surface is illuminated according to the depth of each point on the surface. As a result, the computation of the depth is completed with the ”light speed”. The proposed method does not require any image correspondence for computing depth information, and thus it is free from the correspondence problem and highly robust. The efficiency of the proposed method is tested by using a set of real projectors.
