Abstract :
Ultra high field MRI provides several opportunities to optimize clinical diagnosis and potentially introduce new applications as well. Before the clinical use of ultra high field MRI systems really can come to full fruition, several technical challenges and pulse sequence optimizations will have to be addressed to offset the concomitant increase in B1 inhomogeneities, SAR, required bandwidths, gradient strength, susceptibility effect and other characteristics. This paper will describe how these impediments can be addressed to optimally exploit the intrinsic advantages of 7T MRI for clinically diagnostic purposes.
