Abstract :
The throughput performance of ALOHA systems in mobile radio channels can be improved through the capture phenomenon, where the strongest packet may capture the receiver even in the presence of other overlapping packets. The effect of receiver capture on the ALOHA system performance in the presence of fast fading and slow shadowing is investigated. It is found that under fast fading and slow shadowing conditions the system throughput can be increased when the receiver is captured, especially when error-correction coding is used
