Abstract
The aim of this article is to design an observer for an instantaneous IC engine torque. The torque estimation is based on the only available measured signals on common automotive engines. Two unknown input observers are compared and associated to some knowledge about the indicated engine torque. These techniques are applied to a three cylinder IC engine.
