Abstract :
The aim of this study is to introduce an engine-map model-based nonlinear observer for the estimation of unmeasured variables, such as engine torque, emissions, fuel consumption and exhaust for a hybrid army vehicle. A 2.2 liter, 4-cylinder, 85 kW, turbocharged Peugeot diesel engine is taken into consideration for this purpose. The performance of the proposed observer is evaluated via simulations performed on a Matlab/Simulink based software package. The comparison of the estimated and measured variables (namely, engine speed and torque) demonstrates the good performance of the proposed observer approach.
