Abstract :
In recent years, Algeria has planned to install 10 MW of wind power generation in the isolated Adrar power system. Since the stability of a power system is widely influenced by the wind turbine behavior during an incident, which may lead to system blackout, there is an urgent need to check the ability of the current defense plan to counteract such such situation. Simulations for trip offline of different generation units are conducted to review the current system defense plan. Basing on the simulation results of dynamic behavior of the system frequency using the current defense plan of the isolated Adrar power system; a novel defense plan is proposed and checked in this paper. The results show that the proposed defense plan is able to withstand to the extreme contingencies and secure the power network while keeping more consumers supplied.
