  • Abstract
    Fibers with a composition of Yb2O3-P2O5-SiO2and Yb2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 were prepared via MCVD and solution doping and characterized regarding absorption, emission, photodarkening and lasing. Significantly different behaviour of Yb3+ in both host glasses was found and discussed.
