Abstract
This paper presents the oscillator phase noise and I/Q imbalance impacts on a dual band transmitter and how predistortion can be used in order to improve its performance. At the beginning, the oscillator phase noise and I/Q imbalance are dealt with as unavoidable phenomena in wireless networks, and then the description of the way they are modeled follows. The test-bench setup that was used for the performance analysis is then described and, finally, simulation results are presented for the various examined cases, where it is demonstrated that appropriate predistortion can simultaneously decrease power amplifier´s non-linearities, oscillator phase noise and I/Q imbalance impacts.
