Abstract :
With technological advances, changes in education, thinking, communication and work, people demand services that integrate innovative and efficient ideas, in order to improve their quality of life, the cities and the country in general. By 2020 we will be 17.510.643 inhabitants, according to projections by INEC (Statistics and Census Institute) therefore needs will increase and successive governments have to be prepared for a timely intervention with vision, political will, leadership, and of course the citizen participation. The implementation of smart cities is an initiative that gathers momentum in Ecuador, leveraged with a significant investment of resources. The benefits derived from technological advances are reflected in public policy, it becomes an alternative to implement telework in major cities, it will improve mobility and thus, the quality of life of the population.
