Abstract :
A brief description of computer-aided control system design (CACSD) methods is given. The various concepts and techniques of interactive multiobjective programming (IMOP), an operational research area, are described with reflections on CACSD, which turn out to be strongly suggestive of how the design process can be efficiently conducted. This results in the identification of a coherent set of design principles, which are embodied in a design strategy which assists the designer in a synergetic usage of various methods of IMOP and CACSD. Five areas for further research are described, which should lead to viable CACSD commercial products to support the practical control system designer
