Abstract :
A novel E-core hybrid excited flux-switching PM (FSPM) brushless machine is proposed based on an E-core FSPM machine which has significantly less magnet and higher torque density than those of a conventional FSPM machine. The proposed machine has a simple structure. The main flux path of DC excitation does not affect the magnet excitation since it is not through the magnets. The combination of the stator and rotor pole numbers of proposed machine is optimized, and the flux enhancing and weakening capabilities are investigated by 2-D finite element analyses.
