  • Abstract
Synthesis is one of the most important concept and tools used in digital integrated circuit design. From its beginning in the 80s to today, synthesis has play an important role in digital integrated circuit design, allowing the design of complex system on a chip (SoC) and also mixed signal circuits right now. Nobody can think that the complexity of the chips being designed today could be done without a synthesis tools. This paper will present how synthesis has evolved from its beginning to today considering not only the history but also an overview of the algorithms that have been applied, how it has influenced the design methodologies, how it participates in SoC design, and how it participates in analog & mixed signal (AMS) design
