  • Abstract
In order to improve the reliability of the Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor (BSRM), this paper develops the mathematical model and compensation control of radial forces for the 12/8 dual-winding BSRM when a levitation winding is short-circuited. Firstly, based on the normal mathematical model of BSRM, short-circuit current model is derived and radial force model with short-circuit fault is also established. After that, the derived current and radial force models are verified by the finite element analysis (FEA). Meanwhile, in order to obtain a continuous radial force for the levitation, the radial force is compensated by extending the conduction of the previous energized phase with the consideration of the short-circuit current. Finally, the proposed radial force compensation method is verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulation.
