Abstract :
An electro-magnetic damping device, using the eddy current principle, is analyzed in a simplified, linearised form. Simulation results indicate resonance peak attenuation and shift to lower frequency in respect to a sole mechanical oscillatory system. The novelty of the described approach consists in using a ferromagnetic conductor instead of a diamagnetic one.
