Abstract :
Design and simulation of a Through The Road (TTR) Parallel Hybrid Electric Motorcycle (HEM) with continuous variable transmission (CVT) is described in this paper. The model of a Parallel Hybrid Electric powertrain in ADVISOR is modified for simulation of it. To achieve a better fuel economy and less emission, the internal combustion engine (ICE) should operate at high efficiency regions. In order to increase the efficiency, the ICE should not operate low torque values. Therefore, a new energy control strategy is proposed to improve it while the ICE is ON. In this new strategy, the extra torque of the ICE is absorbed by the electrical machine.
