Abstract :
Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signaling has been proposed for direct-detection (DD) optical communication systems as a powerful means to mitigate intersymbol interference. In this paper, four methods of performance evaluation of optically amplified DD-OFDM systems are presented, and their advantages and disadvantages are summarized.
