Abstract
The paper describes how a digital cathode ray oscilloscope is used to record the voltage and current waveforms from a SiC loaded insulator and how the insulator characteristics are derived from the waveforms. The variation of conductance with voltage is explored and related to the conductance model of a semiconductor. The results thus obtained are compared with results from similar tests on Zener diodes and metal-oxide-varistors
