Abstract
REXSTAR is a proposed passive navigation system, using existing transponders on geostationary communications satellites operating in the mobile L-Band allocation. Like all the other RDSS and navaids using exclusively geostationary satellites, it offers no polar coverage, no latitude discrimination in the equatorial belt and offers strictly 2-D positioning. In contrast with alternative systems, it offers a regional positioning service at very low cost by using carriers provided for the communications service
