Abstract
A trial of high speed weigh-in-motion (WIM) equipment was conducted by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory in February 1987. This trial provided information on the measurement accuracy of several commercial and research equipments for a range of axle weights and heavy goods vehicle categories. The paper reports the trial and provides summarized results obtained from the five research and commercial organisations that took part. Brief descriptions are given of the equipment, (including a capacitive pad transducer, a strain gauge and piezoelectric transducers) calibration procedures, environmental conditions and data analysis methods
