Abstract :
Devlonics Control NV has developed, in co-operation with the Belgian Government and Leuven University, an advanced technology road traffic detection, measurement and control system, known as CCATS. CCATS uses video camera sensors coupled to electronic units that undertake image signal processing in numeric mode. CCATS units are now going into operational service in Europe. The system provides complete and accurate data on road traffic conditions and automatic traffic control. Particularly significant in CCATS development has been the software means to differentiate between wanted data from video images of moving vehicles and unwanted information from moving shadows, reflections, rain, hail, snow etc
