  • Abstract
    Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), having inherent features, require new protocols and algorithms for QoS provisioning in realtime multimedia applications. In this paper, we present a new cross-layer communication module, called XLCM and its protocol XLCP enabling scalable service differentiation in WSNs. We implemented XLCP as a module in NS-2 simulator to evaluate its performance. The results indicate that the protocol succesfully differentiates the service classes in terms of latency and reliability requirements.
