Abstract
In this paper, we propose an inter-vehicle communication method, which is based on the variable range communication, for a dynamic vehicle network as a means of data exchange. Each vehicle which has equipments of the proposed system can get the information related to the other cars´ conditions, their relative positions, etc. And then, each vehicle can recognize the situation around itself and make a set of links, which is regarded as the dynamic network. We apply spread spectrum (SS) communication with laser media to this communication. Each vehicle tries to establish links to its adjacent vehicles. During the link establishment, each transmitter-receiver changes the transmission power to select one from the vehicles inside the transmission range. Data are transmitted through these links. Data for vehicles outside the range pass sequentially from vehicle to vehicle and thus forming the dynamic vehicle network. This is an efficient system for increasing road traffic safety, reducing traffic jam and providing comfortable driving environment to the drivers or controlling the vehicles automatically.
