Abstract :
Research activities on millimeter-wave technologies in terrestrial and satellite communications in Japan, and especially in the Communications Research Laboratory (CRL) are introduced. Several research projects in broadband access communications are introduced, such as multimedia mobile access communications (MMAC), the skynet system, the millimeter-wave wireless LAN project, and the millimeter-wave satellite communication project COMETS. Devices which are key technologies in millimeter-wave communications are also mentioned
