Abstract :
Service learning is a form of experiential learning in which community service provides a means of understanding academic course material and meeting clear cognitive objectives. It is "a credit-bearing, educational, experience in which students participate in an organized service activity that meets identified community needs and reflect on the service activity in such a way as to gain further understanding of course content, a broader appreciation of the discipline, and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility. By nature, service-learning programs are equally beneficial to the student as well as to the community, which differentiates it from other forms of experiential learning such as internship.
