Abstract :
We define a transmission system in a fading environment using modulation diversity (π-constellations) and a channel estimator. Usually, the π-constellation performance results suppose a perfect channel estimate. Here, we propose to give their performance results coupled with a channel estimator. The channel estimation scheme used is the pilot symbol-assisted modulation (PSAM) method. We treat two kinds of channel estimators: the Wiener filter and an estimator from the expectation maximisation (EM) algorithm. Simulation results show that modulation diversity coupled with a channel estimator are still attractive
