Abstract :
This paper presents an enhancement of the congestion control algorithm of the transmission control protocol (TCP) and evaluates the performance of the proposed Fast-TCP in a mobile and wireless environment. The base stations in mobile and wireless networks face congestion which degrades the performance of TCP significantly. Initially to relieve the congestion an acknowledgment (ACK) delay proposal, called Fast-TCP, has recently been proposed to be used for more accurate control of the TCP transmission rate and better TCP traffic shaping by Nokia Research Center. This paper shows the simulation results of the performance of Fast-TCP in wireless environments. Compared with plain TCP, Fast-TCP provides better throughput and fairness
