Abstract :
Examines the applicability of the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT) recommendations on ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) access protocols, the Digital Subscriber Signalling No.1 (DSS1), to multi-vendor ISPBX, (Integrated Services Private Branch Exchange) networking environment. The authors look in detail at a new encoding technique and notation, and a generic remote operation mechanism, which is contained within the DSS1 layer 3 protocols, as an extra capability over and above Q.931
