  • Abstract
In this Paper, A Compact Monopole Antenna for UWB Applications is presented. The proposed antenna has an overall size of 25 × 30 × 1.6 mm3. The proposed antenna has a VSWR of well below 2 in the operating range (1.8-10.6) GHz. The radiation pattern of the proposed antenna is bi-directional in H plane and uni-directional in E plane suitable for indoor application purpose. The simulation results demonstrate that the -10dB impedance bandwidth is from 1.8 GHz to 10.6 GHz, which meets the UWB range (3.1-10.6) GHz. The antenna design utilizes symmetrical triangle to achieve broad impedance bandwidth. This antenna configuration would be quite useful for UWB indoor applications. The proposed antenna has been designed and its characteristics such as return loss, VSWR and radiation pattern are analysed using Ansoft HFSS (High Frequency Structured Simulator).
