Abstract
The extraction of the foetal electrocardiogram (FECG) from skin electrode signals recorded from a pregnant woman is a problem of concern to Signal Processing which accepts a model-based approach. Taking on board the bioelectrical phenomena which rule the cardiac activity and the propagation of heartbeat signals across the body, the FECG reconstruction may be modelled in the context of blind signal separation (BSS). Experimental results show the applicability of such BSS techniques to this biomedical problem
