  • Abstract
The author describes a novel and simple technique for including the behaviour of the power electronic devices in motor drives. The method is simple to understand, and unlike the familiar primitive generalised machine approach, does not require transformation of the motor terminal conditions. The complete model for the drive system is represented in circuit form. This allows total flexibility and does not require any knowledge of the sometimes numerous modes of operation. The otherwise indeterminate motor voltage states are accounted for, and the true motor performance may be accurately predicted
