Abstract
This new circuit uses no additional switched components to operate as a snubber at both turn-on and turn-off in a bridge circuit leg. The centre leg inductance carries full load current plus a transient for a few microseconds as it limits the turn-on current and dv/dt across the nonconducting GTO. This current stores energy which can be conveniently extracted for use or dissipation with a power about equal to that of the snubber capacitor energy
