Abstract
Patient centred care is the key driver in the development of electronic patient record in the UK. Research has focused on the investigation of the elements to be utilised for data capture and dissemination of clinical information. A set of typical Use Cases has been developed, describing patient and clinical aspects, the device to systems interfaces and administrative functions. Investigation and mapping of existing system capabilities, such as generic search, retrieval, interfaces and viewing has been undertaken.
