Abstract
The authors describe the operation and performance of small switched reluctance drives in the power range 100 to 3000 W with torques in the range 0.5 Nm to 10 Nm. The combination of a correctly designed SR motor with MOSFET or IGT power convertor and integrated control system produces a drive with excellent performance characteristics and which is cost-competitive with many conventional drives
