Abstract :
A novel image preprocessing scheme is proposed. First, the importance map (IM) of the image is created based on face detection. With this importance map, we have several effective image preprocessing schemes, one of them (PQIC) is independent of the image coding algorithm, so we can integrate it into existing image compression system easily.
