Abstract :
The authors present the state-of-the art series resonant DC-DC converters using static induction-transistors and thyristors, which are capable of operating in the switching frequency ranges from 50 kHz to 40 kHz. The circuit topologies of the two-switch quasi-resonant current-mode and the single-switch quasi-resonant voltage mode flyback converters are described. The new converters developed on the basis of the quasi-resonant forward converters include the more efficient switching processing at higher frequencies, low acoustic noise and reduced EMI, reduction of size and weight of energy-storage and resonant components and filter components, and effective utilization of parasitic L C components. The operating principles of both types of proposed flyback converters circuits using static induction power devices are explained, and the voltage regulation characteristics of the PFM or PWM time ratio control-based resonant flyback converters are illustrated and discussed in terms of the computer aided simulation results
