Abstract :
The on-line steel tube length measuring system is proposed to solve the oil tube measuring precision problem. This system applies area CCD to capture two-dimension images and proposes the edge pattern-matching algorithm which can detect the edges of tube on the basis of sub-pixel accuracy. The system is adaptable to the environment and has a good performance regardless of noise, blur or dither. In addition, the system is of better price-performance since it has less requirement for computer hardware. The length measuring system has been well applied to production fields
