Abstract :
This paper presents a study of magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna for millimeter wave applications. The antenna is formed by a printed technique with the use of a microwave substrate. To excite the ME-dipole, parallel vertical via holes as a vertical coplanar transmission line and a T-shaped coupled strip are employed for achieving an balun structure so that it provides a wideband characteristic. This antenna operates at the millimeter wave frequency band from 50 GHz to 72 GHz. The antenna yields the maximum gain of 7.5dBi with 1dB variation across the operating bandwidth.
