Abstract :
Respiratory disorders can be identified on the basis of respiratory rate, pattern of breathing, and lung sounds. The variation in the perception of physicians to abnormal lung sounds necessitates the design of a hardware setup for the detection and display of lung sounds. This proposed work aims at acquiring the lung sounds using a stethoscope-microscope setup. As a further enhancement to this work the respiratory waveform comprising the inspiratory-expiratory cycle obtained using the peizoresistive belt sensor is used to distinguish the lung sound phases.
