Abstract :
The author discusses the function of the consulting engineer as a site consultant in the construction of power transmission lines and substations. Various aspects of the site consultant´s task are discussed and emphasis is placed upon the importance of the site consultant in acting as a go-between and mediator in the conflicting aims of the client and the contractor. Different types of construction contracts are mentioned with the site consultant´s role in each. Several recommendations, which are based on practical hands-on experience are offered. The advantages of both the client and contractor for having a site consultant are discussed
