Abstract :
Displacement is a significant operator to solve spatial conflicts of road elements. At present, detection and adjustment of spatial conflicts are still in the manual stage, requiring a lot of manpower, resources and time. Therefore, it is urgently needed to study displacement operation thoroughly, whether for auto map production or the actual needs of mapping applications. Fortunately, structure mechanics is the same as displacement operation of spatial conflict of map elements and are concerned with the stress, deformation and displacement of a continuous object. Therefore, this paper introduces a displacement model of a road based on structure mechanics. The method is to combine finite element method (FEM) and progressive cartography, to transform spatial conflicts of complex graphic elements to mutual relations of simple objects. On the basis of the displacement model, an algorithm and workflow is designed to verify the model´s effectiveness and adjust the model´s parameters for cartographic requirements. The experiments conclude that model parameters selection will directly influence the displacement results and elastic modulus is a key to algorithm efficiency and displacement quantity.
