Abstract :
The first version of the software ParaXCELL and Y2S for detailed extraction has been tried out on small and medium scale integrated circuits which were designed for high speed operation. The extraction program is primary written to support this class of designs. But it could also be used for VLSI designs if the detailed extraction is activated only on the top level interconnects. Another interesting usage of the program is in analog designs. In that case ParaXCELL has to be completed with a model library for all types of discontinuities. The administration in the program is almost ready for this feature. Probably it would be useful in analog designs in radio frequencies up to approximately one GHz
