Abstract :
In this paper, a CPW-fed ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is presented. By inserting a C-shaped slot to the radiating patch, and embedding a pair of inverted L-shaped slots into the ground plane, the 3.5/5.5 GHz dual band-notched characteristics are achieved, respectively. The proposed antenna was successfully simulated, fabricated and measured. The simulated results agree reasonably with the measured ones, showing that the proposed antenna provides an operating band ranging from 2.3 to 11.5 GHz with VSWR less than 2.0, except the 3.5/5.5 GHz notched-bands. In addition, the proposed antenna exhibits a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H-plane, dipole-like radiation pattern in the E-plane, and stable gain across the operating band.
