Abstract :
In this paper, an approach for channel estimation method is analyzed for the next generation mobile communications system. The mean square error of the proposed LS channel estimation is derived, and through this we derive optimal pilot sequences. It´s shown in this paper that the minimum mean square error (MMSE) is obtained with cyclic orthogonal pilot sequence. For intermediate data segments, two methods are proposed to estimate the channel impulse response. These methods are analyzed by computer simulation under multi-path Rayleigh fading channel. Through simulations it´s shown that the optimal pilot sequences derived in this paper outperform the random pilot sequences. And compared to the ideal channel estimation, the proposed method degrades only about 1 dB at a BER of 10/sup -6/ for high moving velocity.
