Abstract :
A unified stability condition is derived for single tuned resonant circuits comprising nonlinear conductive and capacitive elements. The frequency dependent input-output characteristic and the stability condition of the single tuned circuit is presented in a normalized form. Using this general relation the frequency characteristics of an injection locked oscillator and of a tuned circuit with nonlinear capacitance are calculated and also the combined effect of the conductive and capacitive nonlinearity is evaluated. The unstable regions in the frequency characteristics are determined and the possibility of jump phenomena during frequency tuning is discussed
