Abstract :
Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is becoming a new era of wireless networking technology. The security schemes proposed in the original IEEE802.11 protocol are gradually unsatisfied. So some new authentication methods are needed urgently. The main issue of this paper is about the EAP-TLS authentication based on TLS, EAP, RADIUS, and IEEE 802.1x protocol. We discuss and implement the concrete procedures of the EAP-TLS authentication for Public WLAN (PWLAN), and point the advantages of the authentication mechanism. It is a solution of the PWLAN required to have an enhanced level of security and to support network authentication and generation of stronger session keys.
