Abstract :
This paper reports the results of the achievement of high accuracy of detection, a speed-measurement function, and a vehicle-classification function for small and large vehicles using optical vehicle detectors (IRVDs) installed on the roads whose traffic is to be controlled. The detector described in the present report has a communication function for in-vehicle units. This function is equivalent to that of the IRVDs currently being used. In this paper, the authors provide a simple introduction of its specifications. This report concentrates on the detection function, which is the most important feature of the equipment in question
